Made a leisurely stroll out and got 2 bottles each of Northwoods and Barleywine. A pleasant no line, neckbeard-free experience.

Came back home to refill my coffee and mull over whether to make additional stops. Pretty damn pricey for Budweiser's brothers.

Made one stop this morning and there was a shelf full of reg., barleywine and northwoods. I'd rather spend my money on pure tropics and maple shade.

Northwoods is a shite beer.

They took all the sour barleywine people returned in 2015 and relabeled them and put a new color on.

Where did you hear this? I thought it was supposed to be a blueberry almond version.

The north wood seems to be getting good reviews... I’m guessing it could be bad though. I’ll find out soon enough

Once people find out how common it is the reviews will go down

Was fine with Northwoods. Barely tasted any of the blueberry and there was just hint of sweetness that played well with the stout.

ETA: Coffee is awesome this year. Glad GI went back to Intelligentsia. Prop is good, but I could see how some might see the banana as a bit too pronounced. As described by the head brewer, the bourbon is more-forward in Barleywine this year, but I'm looking forward to trying it when it warms. Was only able to have a small taste of Reserve at Prop Day last Sunday, but I have a bottle settling that I'll try before the new year.

It's my least favorite of the 4 varieties I had. The coffee is great.

I really wanted to get a coffee, but I wasn’t going to wake up at 4am and stand in long lines for it.

2015 Sour Barleywine
v.
2017 Blueberry Nut

Promise no one will tell the difference.

If Wayward Owl made that Blueberry abomination not a soul would drink it.

I'm with you. A little bar down the street from me was pouring flights on Wednesday so I got to try them all. I would like to get some more coffee but I'm not chasing it. Some wine bar in uptown dallas has it on tap but I don't feel like driving the 10 minutes over there.
