That's a great deal on that one. I bought one of those for my wife 11 years ago and it's one of her favorite things in the kitchen. I remember getting it for a steal for $199, when it went for double that at the time.

Man.. As much as I love to cook, I had one that had never even been turned on for 2 years before I gave it to my brother. It looks nice on the counter, but I don't bake and don't find myself particularly interested in making doughs or anything.

I love mine. Once you start baking bread, it's a necessity in the kitchen. Kneeding dough by hand is for the 19th century and hipsters.

Decent price. I wore mine out....best attachments are the pasta rollers and a beater blade that scrapes the bowl as it stirs.

Overpriced junk. What you need is...

Just kidding, they’re great. I have one and love it.

Target has refurbished ones for $199.

Saving $20 vs full warranty probably isn't worth it.

That's a solid deal.

If you wanna go that route, Ankarsrum is the ticket. 3x the price, with a lifetime warranty.

Yup. Love making pizzas. Makes quick work for prepping dough. Banana nut bread and anything else we bake. Ground a lot of meat through the attachment too. Wouldn't mind upgrading to this one. Have the model below this one. Not a huge fan of the pivoting top.

The only issue with modern lift bowls is that they have a mylar pinion gear. This causes them to fail when under heavy loads.
If you are grinding meat or doing a lot of dough work the professional is the better option.

Been having mine for 15 or so years. They’re not just for baking and making dough. I grind meat for burgers, chicken for chicken salads. Mix meat loaf ingredients. Makes the creamiest creamed potatoes. Also when the satsumas are in season I make a lot of fresh OJ. Probably forgetting some other uses. To me it’s a real good investment.

I actually have one of each of the four main types of mixers in my shop right now (I think I have a commercial, but at $700 those are rare. )
I have pre mylar and post.
It's the middle gear in the worm gear. It used to be steel and it would just break the larger gear when bad.

The lift bowl units switched from steel to bronze alloy which is stronger.

The commercial have an insane all in one motor and transmission that you replace the entire assembly rather than gears.

I’m looking to start making homemade pasta. Would one of these mixers be beneficial?
