I know it closed during Covid but not sure if it re-opened. Might need to drive by and see as it was a good little neighborhood/dive bar.

I pass it a good bit and it looks open. Haven’t been in a year or so though.

ETA: Google says it’s open

While it's as big, if not bigger, shithole as many true dives, it's priced like a high dollar establishment. Hence =/= "a dive."

Maybe it's changed. I haven't been in years, but my bar tab always seemed to be about twice as much as I would have expected from what it was.

Ivars looks and feels like a dive bar, but they serve food and bring in a pretty big crowd these days.

around 2014/15 they changed mgmt prior to that they made it habit to overcharge non-regular tabs. So it wasn't pricey, the bartenders were just scumbags

I have a common last name so i have to be careful about where i open taps. shitheads regularly will go up to a busy bar and "give shots on wolf". So if do open a tab I usually will audit a little bit. There is a flip side to it, some nights i will close out and they didn't put half my drinks on my tab.

Old Ivar's i could not even use a card, even when it was empty the bartenders would try sneak a few drinks on there to cover their arse. This was common complaint for everyone that would end up there

It has become a much better bar since then it became the bogies for mid 20s people in BR.

The French Connection on Old Hammond.

Old New Orleans bar is open. I go every now and then.

A great Dive bar is 190 Connection in Port Allen at 190 & 415.

The Vineyard was closed before Covid because of zoning issues.

They re-opened the beginning of April 2020 with some upgrades to the bathroom. April 30th someone lit the bar on fire and it has been closed since.

The long run is to reopen after rebuilding. It might take a while.

The problem with Baton Rouge bars is fewer normal people want to go to Baton Rouge after dark.

Tiger Tavern on Hwy 44 is awesome.
