Gift for my mom and I'm not spending $120 on a Thermapen even though that's really I want to get.

It just feels better in the hand as well as it's waterproof where MY Tp is not. Just like it better and for the price I can have three or four of the Lavatool brand.

Thanks that's probably what I'll do and spend the extra saved money elsewhere. Great reviews as well

Awesome. Mine stays on the side of my fridge and I end up using that way more than my bluetooth iGrill. Just so easy to grab it when I'm grilling.

One of the things competition cooks want is a fast read on temp so they can get the lid back down fast. Thermapen are 2 times faster reaching accurate temp. Most people do not need this in everday cooking.
ThermoPop is also a good one to check out. They are usually $60 on Amazon but ThermoWorks has them on their website for $29 today.
