I heard that the Brennan's were interested in Acadian/Perkins corner.

If I remember correctly, Wampold was going to develop the old Kmart land, but then the downturn hit, so he scrapped the idea.

Commercial Properties owns that corner. The project has been on hold for a few years since the economy went down the crapper. It might be waking back up soon. Can't say more than that.

Great, have been waiting for Commercial Properties/BRAF,etc..to step back out that development, Acme looks so lonely waiting for it's cousins to arrive.

I am so sad. We ate there often. I guess not enough other people did. They had great rooms to host parties there! And really great drinks.

In the hotel? I don't believe it was in the initial plans nor have I heard differently.

First go around it was supposed to be a Brennans steakhouse in there. Was everything I have hear thats out. However they are still advertising a upscale restaurant. So apparently the space is being put in for it.

Original plans released, had a grocer with residential lofts above it, a few more restaurants out on Perkins curb, etc..

You talking Perkins and Acadian, or that Swaggart building they're making into a hotel?

Which corner is the Galatorires going on, the Claitors side?

I'm so confused here.

I haven't a clue, but BottomBrew seems to suggest such.

Catman, I forget which restaurant was to go in the hotel, but plans mentioned some ideas a while back. I forget. Glad to see it's transformation from eyesore.

I have no idea where Galatoire's is going. I just know that Commercial Properties owns the corner where Acme is.

Interesting looking stuff, I suppose.

I wonder, though, if it will ever be possible to conceptualize those types of developments WITHOUT resorting to the pseudo-French Quarter style architecture they always seem to so lazily go for?

Isn't that a timeless look? I think it's great.

I read in the paper a long time ago that a steak restaurant from Dickie Brennan would go into the hotel.

Thats about the biggest facelift BR has had in a while.. Doesnt look like visiting the eastern block anymore.

That helps out the image of that area a lot.

I am curious to see the hotel though.. The old building was all concrete walls and low ceilings.

I just think it's a bit tired when that's all we can come up with for "new" building architecture these days.

Plus, for some reason, a lot of the pseudo versions of this seem to age much more quickly than the real thing.
