Dingo's moving into Southern Oaks club
Dingo's, an Australia-themed restaurant, has closed its Coursey Boulevard location and is setting up shop in the Southern Oaks Athletic Club. The restaurant plans to open for dinner Friday, says Lisa Williams, manager and membership director for Southern Oaks, the former Shenandoah Country Club. Williams says Dingo's menu won't change and the restaurant will be open to both the public and club members seven days a week. In addition, Dingo's will cater events and fundraisers at Southern Oaks.

Daily Report just said they plan to open for dinner Friday.

Do they have so much as a sign up?

I still don't see how that is going to work .. the kitchen is tiny over there and the old dining room is now the weight room ..

Guess we shall see. I guess it's good that he is reopening so quickly.

I don't know anything about the athletic club. Is it a nice place? Rag?

Yeah .. It's a nice place basically, when the Shenandoah CC was sold to David Waltermath he developed the front and back 9s on the golf course for residential housing and he sold the clubhouse, swimming pool, and tennis courts to the people that created the Southern Oaks Athletic Club .. But they turned the dining area into a gym basically .. There was a bar with about 6 tables ajacent to it .. I just can't figure out how this will fit .. No way they can serve the full menu .. I just don't see it ...

It is located on Shenandoah Avenue about a block off of Jones Creek ...

Is this just a private club still, or will it be open to the public?

I've always thought BR could use some true NEIGHBORHOOD restaurants (meaning dining establishments located IN actual neighborhoods, and not just on traffic clogged arteries), so if this is really opening to the public in the middle of Shenandoah, I think it might actually be a positive development in some sense.

I didn't think there was any way to pull this off with BR zoning the way it is, though.

Looks like both club members and the general public can access it .. SAC is a private club ..

they're doing OK .. the summer swim memberships are too pricey from what I understand .. but the tennis courts seem to stay busy and at night, the parking lot has a decent # of cars .. I just think the jury's out whether someone is gonna wanna cancel out their workout with high calorie food ..
