Five Guys is a decent burger. I prefer the Double Meat from Whataburger, which is cheaper but across town. Skip the line by calling ahead, there's a third register that's only used for pick-up orders.

Saw a special the other night that said Five Guys french fry purchases account for 5% of the entire potato production of Idaho. They are not selling anymore franchises for the time being. They were selling a minimum of 5 franchises at a time. They see territory build-outs over the next 5-8 years and may sell more after that time.

Yeah, that seems pretty absurd. I think someone forgot to carry a 1.

I was getting fitted at the Al's Formal Wear next door to Five Guys right around lunchtime on Saturday, the line was out the door, and it was really dark out.

I saw a special on the news last year that said they were procuring 100% of their potato needs from one particular supplier in Idaho. I don't recall hearing what % of the entire Idaho production they were consuming, but that sounds high. I don't know how unreasonable it is though. Most of the other worldwide fast food joints and restaurants are probably procuring taters all over the US when 5 guys is strictly using Idaho.

That's odd. A little out of their comfort zone it appears. I'm guessing Towne Center didn't see that coming or Five Guys might not have been their store of choice.

I stand corrected: "Most of our potatoes come from Idaho -- about 8 percent of the Idaho baking potato crop."

They use potatoes that come from above the 42nd parallel. They take longer to grow so have more time to build up nutrients and have less starch in them. So i guess that just mean they are better tasting. No clue really. They had a thing on cnbc the other night about it.

We had 5 guys for the 1st time today. My gf had a small hamburger and I had a small cheeseburger. We split a large 5 guys style fries. That was plenty enough food for us both. With the amount of bag fries they give you, 1 small fry would've been plenty for us both.

The burgers were good, but nothing special. They kinda reminded me of a Wendy's burger, but a little better. After eating a few fries, they started to taste a little nasty with whatever the 5 guys seasoning was.

Next time we go, I'm gonna ask if they'll just salt the fries and not put anything else on them.
The line was out the door, but it moved fast. I'd definitely go back, and I'm a fan of the peanuts.
