Well, it wasn't just me. The wife helped, results are in for the tiger family....

Pliny/Abrasive
Double Jack

Stone Enjoy By

This isn't saying Enjoy By is bad, just not on that level.

Double Jack was sweeter than Pliny/Abrasive, for me it wasn't a deal breaker, but Mrs. FT, she put Double Jack in third for that reason.

Pliny/Abrasive
Couldn't tell these apart when blind. Abrasive has a grapefruit smell that Pliny doesn't. Abrasive is slighty cloudy which visually set it apart. Between the two I can't tell them apart by just taste, and that is all that matters.

For reference, once the test was over we each grabbed a glass, she went Abrasive and I finished off the Pliny. Stone is still sitting there and she took the Double Jack as a consolation prize.

I've only had abrasive and enjoy by out of those 4, and will readily admit that abrasive was the best beer I've ever had.

Really? I could tell them apart easily win I did a blind tasting.

Ranking those for me it is:

Pliny

Abrassive/Double Jack (more research needed here)

Had Heady Friday and I disagree whole heartedly with this. Heady was bitter and didn't have the depth of three of these. I would put it with enjoy by though.

sorry but you're wrong.

heady is the perfect dipa.

Interesting.

I would think Abrasive is the most identifiable of the four. I find it has a distinct resiny finish with a burst of citrusy hops on the front end. I've found Pliny (as well as Double Jack) to be more smooth.

I haven't tried them blind, but based on previous experience, my preferences would be:

Abrasive
Pliny
Enjoy By
Double Jack

You're splitting hairs when you get to this level and personal preference is a major factor. They're all world class IIPAs.

Me either. Imo its not even in the same league as the others in this thread. And no way is it better than double jack.

Pretty much the truth. I have had enjoy by several times over the past week and have enjoyed it. However against these other three it just didn't match up. There was a distinct drop off that made it unappealing when compared to the other three.

It's a Stone beer. I don't expect much out of them. I picked up a Stone Coffee IPA today that I am expecting to be mediocre. Maybe I'll be wrong.
