This is why I am so disappointed in Envie.

I had one. It was not good no matter what it was....PA, IPA...whatever. It had almost no taste and lot of fizz. Reminded me of something InBev Bud would brew.

Yep. Anybody who says Envie is anything special is just being a homer IMO.

I'm done for the night. Up early in the morning. Like 4 AM early.
Continue the debate so I can read for my enjoyment in the morning. 99% positive I'm buying a WSM tomorrow. I'm excited.

All this Zombie Dust talk has me really wanting to get my hands on some. Anyone have any leads? I've got plenty to trade, just haven't found a reliable source to get any 3 Floyd's.

My appreciation for THA is like the appreciation I have for a really good burger. It's not flashy, it's not groundbreaking, but damn, it tastes good and I want more.

Well said! It just hits the spot every time I drink it. I'm not fancy, so to me that's the mark of a great beer.

It is a good beer for sure and especially good for a local brew. Try Ommegang's Fleur de Houblon for a great take on the same style.

Envie was supposed to be one of the flagships along with Canebrake and South Coast. Then Canebrake blew up and those plans were shot. He got an opportunity to brew it recently to get something else out to market.

It's an easy drinking pale ale that I don't see how people can say is "not good." Then again, I also don't think Bell's THA is the greatest thing since sliced bread, so maybe I'm the one with screwed up tastes.

I have 2 nephews working in Ohio that have been sending me Great Lakes stuff. I'll see if they can get any ZD.

B, no need to take this personal. You are one of the most knowledgable beer people I know. Envie was a great disappointment to me. Just my opinion.

Ommegang's Fleur de Houblon

Tried a few sips of LSUBoo's pint at Pelican House a couple weeks ago. I would have tetu'd it if I had the whole thing to myself. Probably the most disappointing Ommegang beer I've ever had.

Don't think about it just do it man. 28 (cry) I've had mine since we were sophomores at LSU. I used to cook like 4 pork butts and 2 brisket for gameday. Thing has made it through multiple hurricanes and two states, take the time to figure how to smoke and you won't regret it.

High horse/
Learn how to cook, learn the chemicals that make better good, it all becomes relatively simple n.a. making good beer isn't hard, neither it'd making good food. Making great battery or food takes precision that most people can't achieve. But I thinkwe don't drum a cultur of food that had not even begun to explore the potential of what this area could do.

Absolutely. Different strokes, I guess. See my above post about that Fleur de Houblon.

I'm not sure that people say it isn't good, just not special. If someone completely dismisses it, maybe they are above it, hell I don't know,

My issue is more with how other "special" brews they have are so great. Ham and Tetu may back me up, may not, but he said their DIPA was just as good as Heady...not exaggerating this. Proof is in the pics...

These "special" brews aren't, and will not, released. Yet, Envie is released even though it is boring (his words not mine).
