You'd be the one to tell. About to book a weekend in Tampa for a nice solo get away. Going check out the Rays and Giants and have a few brews at cigar city.

Sometime this summer I'm taking advantage of Southwest's direct flight to the Keys from MSY

My outside opinion is they seem to want to make good beer, and I hope they continuethat mindset. I'm sure there will be bumps along the way to creating a great brewery. We have easy cutaway ipas, we have west coast ipas, we have Texas ipas, it's time for the the cradle of quintessential American food to step up and contribute to this. There's too many good cooks in this mfn state for its to not contribute. I've got plenty ideas..and I can't wait to execute them.

Go look up the thread I started on the OT today about debating between the keys and Vegas. Alot of info in there.

I went from those two to Tampa.

this one is not very good. Alot of metal/sulphur on the nose and more metal on the taste. Drinkable but def some off flavors.

I heard the spontankriek and spontanframboise are much better. I have one of each still.

I found the same metallic properties with the spontakriek. Glad I got it on the cheap.

My appreciation for THA is like the appreciation I have for a really good burger. It's not flashy, it's not groundbreaking, but damn, it tastes good and I want more. I think comparing it to ZD is, in a way, comparing apples to oranges. Just my $0.02...

This is why I am so disappointed in Envie. I've never been to the brewery, but friends have told me how ambitious the owner is--make great beers to compete with the best, etc. Envie is not a step in that direction IMO.

It is hard to tell his story without sounding like I am talking shite, but here goes...

The parish brewery owner is the only, maybe one or two more, that had openly talked shite about other local brewers. Maybe he felt he was outside of the tour, or maybe toasted (we did have a lot to drink). We have been on many tours and that is the first I have heard talk crap about other local craft, much less major brewers. Crafts in Ft Collins will seldom talk bad about New Belgium despite what they think.

Just struck me as odd he talked about how many great beers he had behind the scenes, but release a decent, but boring APA. Maybe a method to the madness, can't argue with the success of Canebrake. The dude is beyond intelligent, obviously intelligent when it comes to his brews, but put me off on the way things spiraled down during and after the tour. I will give the brewery many chances because they have proven themselves.

The wife and I were married in the keys. Not for us, but you would probably really like it.

The order time we loved it, since then it went to a spring break type atmosphere. Not our style, more laid back and adventurous type vacations, depending on the local.

Will say to do old Towne if you go to key west.

Tampa isn't out of the question this year, but with her school and my Boston trip time is crunched for a couples vacation.

And ill say this, when you and I went there he did talk shite, but the time I went before he had no beer to drink as he had just driven in from somewhere, and still talked the same shite.

So don't think it was the alcohol. Dudes got a chip on his shoulder.

I had one. It was not good no matter what it was....PA, IPA...whatever. It had almost no taste and lot of fizz. Reminded me of something InBev Bud would brew.

Personally I like it, one of my friends took it as offensive, but he didnt drink as much as us. I think it makes the brewmaster want to prove himself and make things like grand reserve and put himself out there like farmhouse IPA.

If he keeps it in house it doesn't effect anything. He vented to dedicated customers, appreciate the honesty even if it was slanted.

Still don't taste oxidation.

LI say this, I get way too drunk (ricketycrickety) for my own well being, like, probably WAY too much for someone my age (fricks given zero tyvm) but I just enjoy talking to people about beer in general. It's almost a counter culture, and I think personally it's the beginning of a cultural shift. I'm heavy short Sam, bud etc (sam makes good beer that's mostly a financial play).

TBD / Parish Farmhouse IPA

Not the best beer I've ever had. But better than anything those other piece of shite local breweries are putting out.
