That description on the bottle looks right up my alley. How was it? Westbrook Mexican cake like?!
Short version -- it fricks
Long version --
Different beast. It's a Hill beer. Mexican Cake, Huna, Abraxas, all those type of beers are super adjunct forward. This shows a lot of restraint, with the adjuncts being much more subtle and integrated. You definitely taste them, but they aren't overpowering the base beer. In looking for more info, I found that their website says it spent two years in bourbon barrels -- that makes sense, because there is definitely some bite to it. Not too much, but you definitely get a little alcohol burn on the back end and marked barrel presence in the flavor. I'm also shocked by the heft; it's quite creamy and viscous for a porter. You're not going to mistake it for the motor oil the hype bois go crazy for, but it's more than enough to coat your palate and allow things to linger. I normally share my Hill beers, but I'm glad I chose to solo this one.
If you have a chance to drink a Hill beer, do it. I can't wait until summer when I can make another run up there.

This is my 3rd beer from them. They are dialed in no doubt.
