FBD: Ghost in the Machine

I refuse to call this the goat. It's an unbalanced juicy mess.

I drank some this weekend. It's very pungent, for sure. It may be a unbalanced, i can't really tell. It's such a hop bomb.

For comparison, i had a Hop Delusion yesterday, and it was very good, and very well balanced.

FWIW, i like both very much.

IMO, like some IPA's, you have a clear established procession of hops, and you can almost pick out the individual character of each hop.

It's very hard to pick out an individual hop in Ghost other than citrus hops. I taste a huge amount of citra and maybe some amarillo. Now i wouldn't say its muddled. I've brewed IPA's with way too many hops and its just a confusing mess with no established character to the beer.

I think ghosts character is citrus hops. I dont find it muddled, it's just a huge amount of those hops. I still rank it 5/5 on untappd. It's delicious.

I will add, that i wasn't taking the time, like i do at home, to savor the beer this weekend. I was on a bachelor party and already a little drunk when i drank some. I'll report back tonight with my diagnosis of the beer.

You didn't like Hop Delusion? I thought it was fantastic. rated it a 4.5/5. The flavor profile definitely changes as it warms up. You get more of a tropical fruit flavor the warmer it is.

I agree with your analysis. Personally, I love hop-bombs. I especially love Amarillo and Citra, so Ghost is awesome to me.

I was really excited to try it because all the hype. Man did it disappoint. Just a huge malt bomb IMO. I had to really force myself to give it 3.5/5.

i didn't find it too malty. It is 9% so malt will be present, but i found the hops balanced it out pretty well.

Agree. I'm probably going to eat dinner there tonight to get some Ghost.

BCBS brunch sounds fun, but have prior plans and am not fighting graduation brunch crowds.

you might be okay on saturday, graduation is friday. If I weren't going out of town I'd go. However, I will probably be there a few nights this week.

Uh oh. Did you just discuss LA GOAT and TX GOAT in the same post and call the latter "very well balanced"?
