Are you in BR?
I'd recommend the BBH(bun bo hue/spicy beef soup) at Saigon Noodles.
It is @ $11 a bowl. Several good places in BR actually.

Tom Yum is really good- tomato broth with lots of basil. Kind of reminds me of Monjuni’s sauce.

I've got your back on the beef and carrot bo kho. It's my favorite.
When I was in Hanoi, I learned accent marks mean things
there are a couple bo kho dishes, and I apparently ordered the wrong one.

Tom yum is Thai…but Vietnam does have something similar in the sour/savory lines…bun rieu or canh chua.

Bo kho is one of my favorite sick/cold weather foods of all time…so good.

I did not realize there were other types of soups other than Pho. I thought it was all pho but add the various meats?
Not Vietnamese but, Royal China has some great soups out side the standard hot & sour, egg drop, and wonton. I’m currently enjoying the War Bar soup. The spicy mushroom is calling my name so are the others.

Don't know the formal name of it but I've had a pork bone soup that was really good

I've only had pho, which I love. Looking to branch out though.

Bun bo hue, hu tieu are common alternatives.
Bun Rieu, Mi Quang, Bun Cha Ca are lesser known and usually available in cities with larger viet population(Houston, certain California cities).
Someone also mention canh chua but it’s usually eaten with rice in restaurants.
There are also Lau which is hot pot.
