Well I'm sorry.. but if you go to a restaurant and ask for juevos rancheros without the stupid ranchero sauce.. They're still bringing you juevos rancheros.

I used to (shamefully) date a guy who would call the nearby Tex-Mex place and order "Tacos with no tortillas or toppings" because he wanted a plate of ground beef and shredded cheese.

I was aggravated every time he did it because IT ISN'T TACOS. It is a box of ground beef.

That's like calling a slab of ground beef a cheeseburger because it is a cheeseburger with no bun, cheese, toppings, etc.

Here are 4 random threads where people posted "huevos rancheros" that aren't really it because they lack ranchero sauce. Look at the way the Mexican posters flip out.

I'll let you in on a secret, mexican food aint that great. They had to come to Texas and be anointed by the hand of god, become Texans and then learn how to cook.

It's the cumin in the ranchero sauce I don't like.. and cilantro to me, tastes how a stinkbug smells.

You're insane. Real Mexican food (mexico city and oaxacan) is probably one of the great food traditions of the world, on part with Chinese.

I love cumin and cilantro. They are two very polarizing items, though.

You all probably know this, but the cilantro thing is actually genetic. It literally tastes different to those people with the gene. Supposedly, though, you can overcome the dislike of it by forcing yourself to eat it (there are actually cilantro pesto recipes out there that people use to do this).

This is the case with anything on earth. Even things I used to despise, like raw celery, I can tolerate because I force myself to like it.

Kidding aside.. Maybe others would disagree but I don't put Mexican on a pedestal as one of the great foods of the world.

(rancheros sauce?) Huevos Rancheros is served with green and/or red chile.

For a real New Mexico breakfast: eggs, carne adovada, fried potatoes topped with chile and cheese and a couple of fresh hot flour tortillas.

might be because you think youre making a real mexican dish when what you really did was throw together a bunch of shite into a tortilla with your mexican roommate drunk after the bar passing it off as huevoes rancheros
