Cooking roux inside will make any house smell

Of course it has a smell, but no one I interact with would call it a bad smell.

Never met a person That thought it smelled good
The fact you think it does makes me think your goal in life is to argue with everything I say

Maybe you just burn all your rouxs.

ETA: Or just hang around people that don't like to cook.

I'm really not trying to be a dick to him But if it smells "bad" while you're making roux, something most likely isn't right.

I never thought it smelled bad. If it ever smelt bad, it was burnt.

I mean its not equal to the smell of trinity and garlic and butter or something like that, but it is definitely not a smell that stinks up the house in a bad way

I didnt say this........I specifically said it smells good to the person cooking it

It is the smell that lingers in your house

Frying food inside will have a similar effect.

It smells good to the person cooking it

For those who enter the house from the outside, or once you leave and come back to your house it is not a pleasant smell

If you dont believe me you can google on the internet and find a plethora of threads and discussions on how to have the smell removed.....Boiling cinnamon is my favorite if I have to cook the roux inside

It is also like cooking onions inside. I love the smell when cooking.

Now the smell that lingers after is not pleasant

Seems like you're just being the contrarian. Shocker.

I'm another one that doesn't think the smell of roux is a bad smell.

I really do have to question how you've been cooking it. Although based on some of your "tastes" that you've talked about on here, maybe I should not be surprised.

I cant be more clear with how I feel

The smell itself is not bad

It is the smell that sticks in your house

It is the same when I make andouille red gravy

The simmering of three cups of onions is fantastic when I am cooking

The smell after that sticks is not

Christ if I had known all the bickering that would ensure after answering "gumbo" I would have just said "a bowl of cereal."

Well, when you make posts that imply that it's not a good smell, people are going to assume you're doing something wrong.

I'll try to redirect the thread by saying "pizza", as one would think that it would be hard to argue about this particular food item.

But of course, there are people here who like to eat pizza where the only cooked portion is the crust and sauce and they like to put cold toppings on top before eating.
