Commander's Palace Sunday Brunch and it's not even close really. My other favorite is Arnauds.

Meh. Commanders is just not my thing for brunch.
Atchafalaya.
Elizabeth's.
Martinque's courtyard.

Katies is better. I didn't know we were talking about cheap brunch.

I know you troll a lot but those are both good brunch spots. Atchafalaya is infinitely better than Katie's and I like Katie's a lot.
Do you go to Commander's on a regular basis? That's my definition of favorite.

Atchafalaya is my favorite, hands down. Great food, reasonably priced, nice atmosphere, live music...and build your own bloody mary bar.
Don't care for Commander's, especially for the price.
I didn't care for my dish at Dante's. I haven't tried it again. The service and atmosphere were great.
I really like Katie's, but the service could use some help.
Elizabeth's is good, albeit slightly overpriced.
I really like Eat a lot, especially the fact that it's BYOB.

I had Apolline on Sunday. Liked it a great deal.

I really enjoy Cafe Degas. I've heard wonderful things about Patois, but I haven't been yet. Commander's is my favorite overall restaurant, but I prefer their dinner over brunch.

It is probably the best, but its always booked solid so I rarely go there.

Apolline was my favorite dinner in the past year. I haven't tried it for brunch, but really want to!

The Intercontinental Hotel has a good Sunday Jazz Brunch.

The Ruby Slipper in MidCity is delish, but the wait can get to be ridiculous if you dont get there early.
I last had coffee pancakes with fresh whipped cinnamon cream on top.
And they put pomegranate juice in the mimosas and make damn good irish coffees.

That kills many otherwise good brunch places with me. I'm not waiting an hour + for breakfast food. That said, I like Atchafalaya and Coquette if I beat the crowd.

Hmmm....
You get a TON of good food for 30 bucks to have a Sunday brunch. For a the Commander's experience that more than reasonable.
I can understand if someone doesn't necessarily care for their food relative to other brunch places, but their prices aren't high IMO.

I do find their prices high, especially when I compare it to the quality of the food that I can get at Atchafalaya for $14-18 for an entree. By the time you figure in the difference for drinks (and I'm likely having 3 with brunch) then you're looking at a difference of about $30 for brunch...which is substantial. And even aside of the price, I've never been wowed by Commander's and I've been several times. Just doesn't do it for me.
And I don't like that their entree prices include an appetizer and a dessert, which I rarely want. I want an entree and a few drinks. I don't want to be forced into spending $40 for food that I won't eat.
Last brunch that I went to (about 3 months ago), there were 8 of us, and every single person left feeling like it was too expensive and nothing special.
P.S. $30 is for the pancakes. Every other entree (with appetizer and dessert) is $34 - $42.
