I was wondering if its worth the effort.
If so how did you prep? How long in the oil? What temp?
TIA.

I remember my dad doing it when I was a kid right around the time crying turkeys became popular. It was a spiral sliced ham and it kinda opened up upon frying. He covered it in a glaze after frying. I remember it being pretty good

I tried a pork butt in a blend of chicken fat and lard a few months ago.
Made KILLER tacos.

Pork loin is great as well. Especially one with a little fat on it, turns into cracklin

My dad fries pork loin for the holidays. Comes out great as long as you don't overcook it.

one of the best meals I had was deep fried pork loin on top of rice, covered with a shrimp creole.

I have a friend who tried this. Frying a ham! I shook my head. I don't know what he was expecting as an end result but he said it came out like a huge dense piece of bacon. I believe he fried it too long. Personally I think if done right the outside might come out decent but the inside I would expect it to be no different than a baked ham.

Yes. I read about it somewhere on the internet and one year when I had the turkey fryer out, threw a ham in. Just purchased a regular one at HEB, I'm pretty sure it wasn't sprial sliced as that would fry weird, so go non sliced. I think I did it about 7.5 minutes per pound (its been awhile so I cheated and googled that but it sounds about right). That thing comes out black as night on the outside but the inside is delicious. I wouldn't season a ham a bit, all that stuff is just going to end up in the oil. But I highly recommend deep frying one, delicious.
