I believe it’s southwest of Crowley.
Anyone been there. I had some sausage from there and it was excellent. Looking to see if it’s worth the ride and recs please.
TIA

Solid slaughterhouse. I've never had anything bad come from there and they're happy to work with you to custom cut if you need, but they'll likely have whatever you want already in the meat case. They still carry 7 steak. When's the last time you've seen 7 steak in a meat case?
They'll also process your animals for you if you bring them in. Already dead or on the hoof, they'll handle your butchering needs. I'm not sure if they still will come to your house if you have an animal you need slaughtered, but I know at one point they would.
It's an example of an old school country slaughterhouse that is all but gone in this day of industrial farms and meat from the supermarket, and they do it RIGHT.
They have prepared stuff like sausages and such and they're all pretty good, but you need to have your mind ready for the way the place looks. Remember: it's a working SLAUGHTERHOUSE with a meat counter attached. There's nothing fancy and it kind of looks like a dump out in the middle of a rice field; slaughterhouses aren't typically architectural masterpieces. If you aren't paying attention, you could mistake it for a tractor shed from the highway as you drive by if you didn't notice the livestock holding pens out behind the cinderblock building, but rest assured that what they sell is QUALITY meat.
Seriously, this building cranks out EXCELLENT meat.

Their meats are excellent. I love their smoked sausage. We usually bring a deer there every year to have made into smoked sausage. Only complaint I have is their packaging. It is a plastic wrap that is heat shrunk around the sausage, not vacuum packed and after a month or two in the freezer it ends up getting freezer burnt.

We should make a list of “real”slaughterhouse meat markets, by parish. Places like Verduns in Raceland, or Plaisance in Larose, or Unruh in DeRidder.

I use them to make my deer sausage sometimes, they do a good job

I don’t know much about Elliot’s but T-Boys is super legit and highly recommended.

Elliots Sausage is my favorite as well. Located in Lyons Point/Morse area in Southwest Acadia parish. We've been bringing our calves there for slaughter longer than i've been alive, and as earlier poster said, the place hasn't changed in 50 yrs.
A trip there will take you back in time.

I never realized how good I had it growing up in Gueydan. I thought ALL sausage was as good as Elliot's. Their smoked and fresh sausage was a staple of my childhood. Most other meat we ate came from them as well. Top notch quality all around. Since I moved and I got my parents moved out from there, it is the thing I miss the most.

I’ve had their sausage before when my neighbor used it in a gumbo and it was good. But I’ve honestly never been there. I should go check it out as it’s probably not even 20 minutes from my house and maybe 5 minutes from my in laws
