Or any good old joint that is gone.

yep, they were good.. We lived way out in the country and the first time I remember "going to town" to eat was pulling into the slot at A&W Rootbeer. Man, that was something cool for those girls to bring you food out to the car..
None of the kids at school the next day could believe it..

Royal Castle, great mini-burgers and excellent breakfasts. Had something called birch beer to drink, tasted like Coke & Ben-gay.

There were four 45's given away on flimsy material back in the day by Burger Chef and "Jeff" in the 70s

Burger Chef in Lafayette was the deal. I lived there from 73-77 and we ate there all the time. I miss those days....

Burger Chef was the 2nd largest fast food franchise until the late 70s...their Fun Meal's were far superior to McDonald's whatever meal. There was one in West Monroe on Cypress St where Mahoney's Camperland is now located and one in Monroe on Louisville Ave where Podnuh's was located for years and is now a State Farm Agency.

Its easy to forget as well that Burger Chef pioneered many of the things that its rivals became known for, including flame-broiled burgers, value combo meals, and a works bar that allowed customers to dress burgers their way.

There used to be one in Lafayette on Johnson Street that we would go to all the time when I was little.

So was GD Ritzy's actually good? Or did i just like it b/c i was a kid, and it was the first place i remembered that had the pumps where you fill your own little ketchup cups. I wasn't even big on ketchup, but i would always fill like 4 cups when i went.

On Plank across from the car wash and across from Herbs. Then they opened one on the North side of Airline on Plank.
