Myself and my family are born and raised in the Eunice area and I've never heard of mixing beef with smoked sausage. And I wouldn't want to mess up the flavor of a good piece of roast beef by throwing sausage in the pot.

Chicken and sausage, rice and gravy is pretty common, though.

Also from Eunice originally, I've never heard of throwing in sausage with the pot roast. I got some Lejeune's in the freezer, going to have to throw some in this weekend.

Oh, we were talking about a beef pot roast? I didn't realize that because I can't read so good. I put the sausage only in a pork pot roast, just to clarify.

Beef might get studded with well seasoned garlic and chopped onions, but not sausage.

Some seven steak and pork sausage, making a little "sauce claire"..my grandmother used to cook for me and her once a week. Really miss those days..

Has anybody tried it yet? I’m just curious if any the folks that said they were going to try it have done it yet. I can handle it if you say “oh, this is the worst crap ever”.

I've never heard of it. Might be good with a pork roast. I have a friend from Jennings who grew up cooking a pork and beef roast together in the same pot. She says the gravy is excellent. I'm going to try that one day.

I do this all the time. Makes an excellent gravy. In fact that’s what we had for thanksgiving this year instead of turkey. I’m not from Jennings though, I just wanted to make that clear
