Have a frying party, and do multiple turkeys with everyone chipping in for the oil.

I usually use the clear frying oil that used to cost $15 for the 5 gallon jug. That one is now $35.
I didn't expect OT treatment from the PT board for giving a heads up to those that may not buy cooking oil year round.

then do the frying party. I fry a lot and have noticed the cost of oil but another thing you can do is find a local restaurant that has lightly used oil that they are willing to sell. It is usually about half price.

Yeah, it turns out really good and juicy from the deep fryer, but you just can't beat slow heat and wood smoke.
Save that oil for the catfish and crappie.
