The obesity thread made me think, we have become a nation that eats prepared foods. It’s Louisiana, we can all make some damn good special meals. On a regular night do you cook from scratch with fresh produce and basic ingredients, eat something you bought at a restaurant or do you pop something easy in the microwave?

Cook 2 to 3 times a week. Spereate it out, I don't measure it anymore but I intuitively know about how much it is so everything is measured out.

Usually only eat once on Sundays but that is usually not cooked at home. Pretty much get whatever I want.

I was only spending around $250/month on food, but with prices rising its probably $300/month now. Meat and vegetables are cheap.

House of 4 and 2 of them are teenage boys, I cook 3-4 nights a week, and the rest is pick up from somewhere. Now cooking might include sandwiches or something in the oven, but we eat at home alot.
We plan every Sunday to all be at home to work on the house and I cook something "from scratch" we all vote on what it will be. Start with the protein and go from there.

Yes we cook dinner quite a bit. Nothing ever fried, mostly lean meats/vegetables. We enjoy doing it together but some nights we take turns while the other sits at the bar in the kitchen and relaxes.

I need to lose 25lbs, and my bad eating is strictly at lunch, and too much booze. Working on doing better at lunch and cutting back on the sauce too.

I'll say this - everything I was warned about has come true in my mid to late 30s. Bad food just sticks to you at a high rate

Cook every night. Kids are grown so it's not like I'm busy.

I’ll smoke a pork butt or something similar on Sunday, then use that meat to fix with sides throughout the week or make fajitas type shite.

i end up eating out for lunch during the work week, but we cook 99.999% of our meals at home from scratch as my wife has food allergies. We cook from scratch.

EDIT:

we go as far as make our own pizza dough, use frozen veggies, but will use canned tomato sauce, and beef/chicken stock, but fresh meats always.

I mix and match some of each. I have 2 kids under three and both my wife and I work full time. It really depends on what is in the fridge and how much time I have to work with when I get home.

That’s me. I’ll usually cook a simple fresh protein (tuna, salmon, chicken thighs, pork chops etc.)

And I pair that with left over rice and some pre packaged frozen vegetables

1. Sunday dinner - Some sort of Rice and Gravy / Stew / Traditional Cajun or Italian (me)
2. Saturday Dinner - Usually grilling or something out the smokehouse if home all day (me)
3. (2) standard Spaghetti / Casserole / Baked Chicken or Fish nights (wife)
4. Home made Pizza night, I make my own dough and it's cheap and delicious (team)

Every week. 2 adults, Mid 30s. 2 kids, 6 & 8

The other meals are sandwiches, mac / cheese, cereal, eggs, etc. Standard fare.

Buy prepared meals maybe once a week. Probably average 0.75 times / week.
