Do you condition a magnalite pot?

Just got my first one for Christmas. Should I condition it like a cast iron pot? I thought you only did that to cast iron, but the directions the pot came with suggested it...
If so, how do I do it? Same process as with cast iron, or different? What kind of oil do I use? Will Canola work?

Nope. Just start cooking.

If you salt your water for rice or pasta, don't throw it in cold. Wait till the water gets hot. Salt reacts with aluminum making pits on the bottom.

I've never done anything to mine other than cook in them.

The best thing you can do it get some 7 Steak, make a rice and grave in it, call ya ba coachchappy, and let’s drink some cold beer. I’ll help supervise

Smother some pork chops in that bad boy for your first cook and that'll be all the seasoning it will need
you can use canola if you want. you just need to use an oil with a high smoke temperature.

Wait. We eating 7 steak rice and gravy? Call me. You supervise. I'll provide QA/QC services.
Also, I'm gonna have to head down to Iverstine's tomorrow to get some 7 steak and pull some purple hulls out of the freezer because I know what's for dinner tomorrow.

I'm conditioning a new 8qt oval right now.
Making a chili with 5 lbs of ground beef.
Been using Magnalites for 35+ years. Always just washed and started cooking.

Almost. Son and nine others going skiing in Utah for a week.
Everybody brings a meal to cut cost of eating out every night.
He wanted chili for ten.
