Staying with one of my buddies relatives in Atlanta for the Chicken Bowl. They want some Dixie Beer as "rent."

I know after Katrina they stopped brewing in NOLA and apparently sold it to some place is Wisky. Is it still available here and where might I find some?

Albertson's, Fresh Market, Rouses it's not that hard to find at stores that have a decent selection.

Do them a favor and bring them some NOLA instead.

In the event that you do still want to bring them Dixie, I have seen it at Albertson's around BTR.

I hope their nostalgia overrides their taste buds.

ETA: Not a beer snob.

I can't stand it, and whenever I tell my dad he says he's not sure I'm really his kid. I know it's sort of an old school-er beer, I just could never develop a taste for it.

I don't know that I've had one since they farmed out the production out of state post-Katrina.

To those who have, is every third or fourth beer skunky beyond belief, like the ones brewed on Tulane Avenue used to be?

I never encountered a more inconsistently produced product than the old Dixie Beer. While the non-skunky ones weren't awful, I always thought it was too much of a gamble to purchase, given how every third or fourth one you'd get, would be.

my parents both drank dixie beer. It was the first beer i ever tasted. I don't know how i turned out to be a beer drinker after that fist experience. it was like drinking gasoline.
