Back in its heyday, the Uptown bistro Dick & Jenny’s helped set a new pace for upscale/casual New Orleans dining. Now, after many changes and successive owners, Dick & Jenny’s has come to a full stop.
Dick & Jenny’s closed last week, ending a story that spanned more than 20 years and several chapters. The owners of its property at 4501 Tchoupitoulas St. are now seeking a new operator to lease the space, but say whatever comes next it will not be Dick & Jenny's.
The restaurant goes back to 1999 when the husband-and-wife team Jennifer and Richard Benz first developed their namesake restaurant in this charming, rambling old barge board cottage.

Place went downhill fast after the cristianos people took it over. That and there are just way better options in town now than ten years ago.

Went back last September and it was absolutely terrible. I almost didn't eat my meal bad, and I am always willing to try to find something good to say. It was 7:30 on a Friday when we went and it was half empty, so this isn't surprising.

When exactly was their heyday? I don’t seem to recall them ever being that good or popular?

when it opened it was completely unique, and was packed every night all night. That lasted for many years

Merlin is a jackass! Surprised it stayed open this long.

Isn’t that around the time they opened?

Only went once. They had run out of the special and didn't have several other items on the menu. Wanted to go back to give them a second chance. Oh well.

That's odd, Christianos in Houma is really good.

That pork chop was special. Must’ve have had 25+. I’ll be looking for a new one.

Yeah but I’m not sure how much Christiano was involved himself. Think it was mainly his ex-wife running Dick and Jenny’s, could be wrong though.

I nearly went this past weekend after a buddy has talked about meeting the owner at Rouses a couple of times and a co-worker mentioning how much they liked it (pretty much the only person I ever heard even mention it).
I guess I waited too late.

Forgot about him. I wonder if he did any 3 ways in the kitchen.
