Yea? We're going to Grayton for a week this summer. May have to check it out.

Then check out the Hurricane Oyster Bar at Happy Hour. This past summer we got a dozen oysers and a pitcher of beer for 8 bucks. Food is pretty good for bar food.

Also, the Red Bar on the weekend has great crab cakes. Get their early to avoid the wait and they WILL run out of crab cakes (only served on weekends).

Not to get off subject but the family is looking for a place to stay there this summer. Where does everybody stay past Destin?

Assuming you mean east of Destin. We stay in Grayton Beach. It's quieter, with less traffic. In addition to the beautiful beaches, there is a lake there and a waterway that connects the lake to the Gulf. Plenty of water/beach area where the kids can skimboard and play if the surf is up and the beach is closed.

The beaches are less crowded, too. More locals hang out there and you don't have a lot of steps or sand dunes to cross getting to the beach.

My family and I love it, and it is 5 minutes from Seaside and 10 minutes from Santa Rosa Beach, so their are plenty of good restaurants to go to in the area. We usually hit a concert or other event in Seaside when we're there.

Thanks for the recommendations. Sitting at Baytown Wharf drinking. Looks like Sunday we will head down 30-A. I'll give my reviews in this thread. Thx again!

Had a great Mardi Gras weekend in Destin, despite the weather. Thanks for all of the suggestions. I wish we'd had time to try them all.

Cooked Sat.
Stinky Fish for brunch on Sunday. Had the shrimp and grits and the special was pepper jack cheese grits with a fried green tomato and poached eggs and red beans and crawfish. I really liked this place. Great recommendation.

Hit the Red Bar for some drinks later and finished the afternoon at Bud & Ally's both great.

Cantina Laredo for supper on Monday. Awesome! Had the Ceviche and the Fiesta Grill. Excellent.

Going to hit Fire next time. Thanks again for the info.

Stinky's is damn good.

Sounds like y'all had a good visit over there.

I can't wait for Grayton this summer. I'm going to have to seriously talk myself out of buying a stand up paddleboard from YOLO. I've been jonesing for one for over a year, and after researching all SUPs their boards are probably best for what I intend to do with it.

How was the upstairs bar at Bud & Ally's? That's a nice spot for a drink.

It was great. Good crowd but not overly crowded. Again, it was chilly but not too bad. The BBQ shrimp there was surprisingly good.

Last time we were there the wife had a surprisingly good scallop dish. It was probably surprisingly expensive, but I tend not to dwell on those things when in that area. I just focus on the top shelf females and the horizon, usually there's a great view between the two of them. Did I say that out loud?

For a drink - sure. For food - no thanks.

I wouldn't call the food there great by any stretch.

But, I think it's decent enough and priced much better than a lot of other places in the area.

Red Bar is a good value for the area and fun, too. People from South LA should be able to put up with the long waits, too.

I don't necessarily disagree that the food is edible, but, when we're down there, we only go out a few times for dinner. I'm not going to waste it on the Red Bar when there are TONS of better places within a 10 mile square radius of that place. And I'm certainly not going to wait in line to eat there.
