They will probably do fine, but the Charlie Browns location across Airline might have been a better option, although there are drawbacks there as well.

Did Charlie Brown's close down?

And I agree with everyone who says it's a terrible location. That whole little area is a clusterfrick of mundane strip malls.

Charlies is closed.

Really dig Dempseys comin to P-Ville.... I live in the Highland/Pecue area and go that way fairly often for Tommys. Just wish they were opening in a different location. Brutal

Sammy's is popular too, but bombed at their Jones Creek/Tiger Bend location ..

I could be wrong, but I thought that dissension over having video poker between the 2 owners, one being the current Dempsey's owner is what killed that Sammy's....Seems they did well for a good while at that location.

This is very true....Sammy's Southern Bistro rolled in that spot for several years before the two owners split and then it failed...

I would agree. The great thing is that 10 years ago Walmart was willing to give HJ's under the table to get the approval to open up in Pville and AP politics dropped the ball with request and were left with this crap.

Well that strip mall is one of the worst, you can't even see what is actually in it unless you ride through the walmart parking lot.

That's why they have that fancy flashing red sign on wheels up front.

Somewhat off topic, I remember about 5-10 years ago AP tried to pass an ordinance to get all of the signs lowered and clean up the general look when going down the road. Would have made that whole stretch look a hell of a lot better.

I will eat there to help support them. But the 10 parking spots and facing Wal Mart kills this shopping center. We had a birthday party at the Cork and Canvas place in there and filled up all of the parking plus spilled over into Wal Marts lot. I'll be there eating with the family.

Once you go to the back of the strip mall there is a decent sized parking lot. Probably 20-30 cars.

Walmart was towing cars at one point as well, not sure if that still is happening.

Not that I am aware of.... That would really kill Dempsey's if Walmart towed the cars

I know that someone continues to take down a portion of the fence that separates the two parking lots to make a walk way through the grass....

Use to be customers who went to Toccos/Garcias/Etc would remove the fence. Walmart did two cars for a bit like FT said not sure if it still happens

I thought video poker in EBRP was long gone before all of that .. Sammy's has prospered in its other locations since the split, so that's a fairly moot argument .. Look at all the places in that little area that failed after .. Buddy's Seafood, Kenny Carr's place, Godfather's, etc. .. It is just a bad spot .. and Sammy's couldn't overcome it .. That place was dead for months before it closed .. Everyday customers know zero about ownership issues of places .. Probably 90% of Sammy's regulars couldn't tell you who owned Sammy's ..

Is this still happening? Not a lot of activity that I can tell.

Plenty of activity. Just not staffed and trained yet. Can't open until we get servers and cooks hired so if you know anyone who needs a job, send em over!

Is there a targeted opening date?

As far as I know, no date set in stone. The aim was the new year but we just don't have the staff yet. The other locations have JUST enough employees and could use more, so the focus is there before a new location.

There are 4-5 people being trained at the one I work at right now and I assume at least a couple will be moving to the new location.

We lost a ton of people lately due to getting married, graduating college, etc.
It will open ASAP though. We aren't talking months or anything.

Really? I was at the WalMart yesterday and they still had all the Garcia stuff on the outside and it did not appear anything on the inside had changed.
