I’ve got a t fal with a filter reservoir that works well. You can reuse your oil probably 3 times as long as you’re not frying fish

I researched the hell out of them years ago and bought an expensive model, which crapped out in a couple of years of light use. I then bought a cheapo from Target, and it is still humming years later.
Like two-slice toasters, they are pretty much all garbage. Just get a cheap one and think of it as disposable.

Just curious, why not get a large cast iron pot and a thermometer?

I’ve got the fry daddy duel daddy. It was cheap as hell and hasn’t let me down yet.

I tried two with drain reservoirs on the bottom and after a year they started to leak. Recently while in Cabala's I was browsing the cooking equipment section and noticed their fryer comes in two sizes.
The larger one takes 5 qts. of oil and has a spigot to drain the oil. A few years ago I bought a large stainless funnel with filters from Bass Pro to strain oil. Clean up it easy, after oil has cooled I open up the spigot and drain oil in the funnel which is sitting in the mouth of the original oil container.
The only small problem is the temp. I checked the dial against two thermometers and when dial is at 355 the oil temp is 375. I see now the funnel is plastic.

I like to set up the portable fryer outside so the frying project doesn't smell up the house.

That’s what I got and they worked good enough.
Then I got a 4gallon propane fryer on wheels (rv works Cajun fryer) and I’ll never go back to a table top electric. Faster, better results, easier to use store and clean.

Have you tried an air fryer yet?
