Yes, more just a place for smokers than a place to hang out IMO.

Love it, Im on the other side of Claiborne from Freret, but consider it our neighborhood dining option. Good hardware store as well and the nursery.

Its close enough to be a real convenience without it being a burden. But the blocks between Freret and Claiborne are undergoing a massive transformation, as Glassman said.

Freret St. Po Boys opened post Cure but pre Company Burger. Company Burger was August 2011.

Publiq House is cool but if they want to become a legitimate music venue they need to work on the acoustics.

dear god, yes.

The only thing that sucks about Freret is trying to park. But that's just like magazine.

ETA: I still remember buying my first non-huffy mountain bike at the bike shop on Freret. I also remember getting cheeseburgers and cokes from the ghetto gas station that didn't sell gas that is now Dat Dog when I was a kid.

interesting... so are there any boutique type hotels there yet. i mean clearly the word is getting out on gentrification of the area if its in the houston chronicle as a hipster foodie destination

Me too.

Ditto. Really was good and inexpensive.

For some reason I can't recall, one of the grandkids used to hang around our house just before we moved to California back in the early nineties. He was really precocious and sharp.
