I know its impossible to avoid salt altogether(and large amounts), but if i just do lemons and oranges, crab boil, and seasoning, and not 2-3 boxes of salt like most do, will i notice? Will it still have any flavor?
Just wondering how important the boxes of salt are. TIA

You don't need to add additional salt to the pre mixed boils. It will taste better without all the additional salt.

You're in over your head with this 1 sack boil. Do you need me to come over there and do it for you?

Not that im a recipe guy for a boil, but everything im ready is saying 2/3+ boxes of salt.

Yeah man, you add that much additional salt and nobody will be able to eat them, but if the do manage to do so, they'll be up all night drinking water like it's going out of style-----then pissing all night long.
The main ingredient in just about all the powdered seafood boil mixes is salt. Wet your finger and grab a taste of it and it will jump out at you.

I add some salt but not 2-3 boxes. As others have said, would be fine without any.

So since we are talking about it, what do y’all use to season 1 sack?
I meant the big package of seasoning and liquid stuff by Pre Boil

Cajunland is also good without any additional salt, I don't add any. I don't even notice any swelling like I do with Louisiana due to salt content. Zats swells me the frick up, avoid it.

I only use 1 4.5 lb. bag of the Louisiana Seafood Boil and toss in a bit more of cayenne to my liking------about 4 tablespoons worth to the water. Then it's just up to using onions, celery, lemons, garlic, bay leaves and whatever else you plan to put in your boil.
This is enough for 1 sack of crawfish and if boiling more, you need to freshen up the seasoning a bit, but not more than 1/3 a bag or so.
I've boiled a lot of sacks that way and have never had a complaint about not being nicely seasoned.

I twisted some heads in knots when I posted a pic of my boil last weekend and had celery in it.

Do not add anymore salt! People who likes to add more salt must have sky high blood pressures.

I've never even been to a boil where celery wasn't used as one of the vegetables put in the pot------and I'm 65 years old.

Same but I’m only 29
Celery gives it a really great flavor.

It depends on how much liquid you are using. Aren't you the guy with the 30 qt pot? I'd do at least half a bag of powder seasoning and 4 oz liquid for your first batch (I'd assume half a sack) and add the leftover powder and a couple oz liquid for your second batch.

I use celery and add celery salt
I’ll also zest all of my lemons or add lemon oil
Think those are the two biggest flavor additions to the boil imo
