Crawfish at a restaurant in Baton Rouge

I have a colleague who will be spending a bit of time in Baton Rouge and Lafayette between now and May. If he is looking for some crawfish (boiled and in a dish like etouffe) what places would you recommend. Appreciate any thoughts y’all might have!

My favorite restaurant crawfish are at Just Wingin It off of Old Jefferson because they are pretty spicy. It's a bit off the beaten path though (almost to Prairieville). They don't have a lot of other seafood options either.
Check out Heads & Tails off of Perkins too. They'll have more options for other dishes.

There’s a place off of S Acadian and close to Government that serves up spicy options I recall.

Capital City I think? I've been there a few times but I always forget about that place.

Had them at Just Wing It last night and they were awesome. Perfect size and peeled perfect. Had them at Willie’s a couple weeks ago and they were terrible.
I’ll give Willie’s another shot but my first time having them after hearing about how good they are was a big disappointment. Tons of mushy hard to peel tiny crawfish that were dead before they boiled them.

I've had them a few times at Willie's and I wasn't impressed. My go to for a restaurant is Just Wingin It and Randy Montalbano's for pickup. Tramontes does some decent crawfish too for carry out.

Everything I’ve eaten at Just Winging it has been great(which really shocked me) as I only went there to hear someone sing no surprise the crawfish is as well. I’ll have to try it.

Last I heard they have closed their restaurant to concentrate on catering.

That sucks. I really liked that place, granted I haven't been since pre Covid.

I have their catering every year, they are pretty good.
I am glad to see that other people are having the same experience with Willie's that I do. They just are not good. I usually get downvoted when I say anything negative about that place. Every fricking year my wife gets a $100 gift card to there for Christmas and I dread using it.

It’s true. They are gone.

it’s almost the opposite for me, I forget it’s there and every time I go I end up finding something else I like. Seafood potato and the Saintsation Poboy are my go tos…almost every app I’ve gotten there has been great too.
I admit I don’t have their crawfish (or really any restaurant) crawfish often

Tell him to get some to-go from LTK Seafood in north BR, pick up some boil corn, potatoes and eggs, boiled neckbones, turkeynecks, & pigfoot.

I don't mind the regular menu at Willie's. I just don't care for their crawfish

I just picked some up from Tony’s Seafood last night. $5.49/lb boiled. I was down in Pierre Part today . Stopped into Troy Landry (Swamp People) place today. They are starting to pick up what they are catching. One said he went from 5 sacks to 8 in a few days.
