Costco brand and prepared foods
Posted by TheEnglishman on 1/17/18 at 7:07 pm24
I've been trying trying different frozen items and some prepared foods. Some are awesome. Some are terrible.
Anything you guys love?
My list so far
Breakfast burritos - awful tasteless things
Chicken Alfredo - fair... Not great. Needed a lot of doctoring. And not worth it
Cheddar and broccoli soup - this stuff is awesome. I added broccoli but seriously get it
Frozen chicken thighs. Messed with my stomach. Not going to purchase again.
Chicken Taquitos - always good. Nothing special.
What's your go to for prepared food or frozen stuff.

Prepared mustard and Totino's pizza are the only things that cannot be improved upon when making from scratch.

Beef bulgogi, stuffed bell peppers are good. Shrimp cocktail is flavorless.

I’d buy their rotisserie chickens by the gross if it wasn’t such a pain in the arse to navigate my local Costco.

Did you know that they sell the pulled meat in the meat department? You can pick up a bag and dump it straight in the gumbo.

We've done that. Very convenient.

Costco's scalloped potatoes are excellent, as are their tortellini.

I bought some Costco frozen chicken meatballs that I really liked. When I Google them, I don't see the ones I had, so maybe they aren't a regular item. I see some teriyaki pineapple ones, but these weren't those.
I bought a tray of half muffaletta sandwiches which I was taking to a meeting. Ended up being pretty embarrassed by them. Tried my best to disassociate myself from them.
Tequila Lime Wings from the freezer section. Not bad. Passable, but not superb.

Those be the Aidells. They good. I haven't seen them lately, though, just the chicken apple sausage, which is pretty good.

I get the salmon with butter and dill about every few weeks, feeds us for a good 2-3 nights

Sam's had some Panera cream soups that were pretty good but their availability has been spotty here, so we no longer look for them. Their whole pork loins are a good option, that Kroger sometimes price matches in a smaller pack. Once or twice, we bought their corndogs when all of the grandkids were all coming at the same time for a weeklong stay, but not any more, since they never all come at the same time and are now an age where that kind of thing is no longer cool.
We buy all of our Tide clothes washing pods, Dishwasher pods, Tylenol, Glucosamine Chondroitin, Fish oil, Toilet paper, kitchen paper towels, Shredded wheat, Cheerios, coffee creamer and McDonalds coffee for the coffee pot, Occasionally we purchase Lawry's Garlic Salt,Ground beef for burgers or to put up as loose meat, NY Strip steaks, roasted chicken, asparagus, avocadoes. At Christmas I buy one tin of Danish butter cookies, except the price was (high) out of reason this year, so I got pissed off and didn't. That is about it for us.
I buy most of my automotive gas at Sam's and that probably pays for the card.

The vodka is legit.
Get a bag of their bacon cheddar crisps. Basically they wheat thin shaped crackers that are thicker due to bacon and cheddar bits baked on them. It is DA BOMB late night snack cracker. Sadly, it's a seasonal product and currently out of stock.

Definitely going to check this out. I'm assuming its frozen and just needs added vegetables? Should i heat it up in a skillet with some oil?
I was wondering about the chicken pot pie. I've been craving that lately after having Elsies plate and pie a few weeks ago.

I’ve only seen raw beef bulgogi at NOLA Costco. Not frozen. Treat it like a stir fry
