Personal preference is flour but I know corn is healthier and I like them too. As for whole wheat, I have found many whole wheat products that I really like but tortillas are not one of them.

Doesn't matter. He's going to give us the be all end all answer.

For me, though, it's flour even though it's not traditional. Corn tortillas just don't have a texture that I like. I prefer traditional fillings, but a non-traditional wrap.

Cabrito or lengua in a flour tortilla?

EDIT: I completely forgot about the coastal areas that make some damned tasty fillings. Fish or shrimp done well with some nice garnish in a flour tortilla also equals

Maize tortillas are the traditional way of making tortillas. I think if you're shooting for both authentic and what tastes better as well as healthier, you kind of have to go with the corn.

How is corn (sugar) healthier than flour (sugar)? Serious question.

I don't like the taste or texture of corn tortillas. Maybe because I've never made them from scratch myself or had very fresh ones.

Questions? Comments?

corn tortillas have more flavor and better chew. the main problem I see people have with them is that they fall apart too easily. that's usually from being poorly made.

Flour tortillas are generally thicker and if they're worth a shite they're going to have lard in them

They need to be heated so they don't crack

This morning wrapped a fried egg, 2 pieces of bacon and a bunch of tomaters, basil and feta in a flour tortilla and blasted it with Sriracha. I promptly ate it, then had myself another. They were divine. I don't mind corn tortillas either, and they are better in some applications. But Flour tortillas are way more versatile and better for the overall good of humanity.

Yeah, the difference in calories is pretty significant.

On another note, my wife and I had some vegetarian pizza yesterday and it was great!

Fewer carbs in corn tortillas and higher fiber content to that of flour tortillas.

Additionally ,the sugar is a naturally occurring sugar in corn when you make corn tortillas at home or in a restaurant, so your body processes it easier.

So from a calorie standpoint?

Lard isn't inherently unhealthy.

They both seem like empty calories and neither seem healthy. Not that it will stop me from eating them...I just don't see where one is necessarily healthier than the other.
