I like most of the dishes that I have had from Copelands but not the execution. Sometimes things are overcooked.

I like the grilled chicken with yams, but last time I went there it was cooked to death.

Also last time I got the chicken parmigiana the chicken was fried to the point of being a hockey puck.

I usually try something different every couple of times I go. As I said, I think the execution is a problem. There is no consistency even within the same site.

I haven't been in a long while so cant comment on the consistency but tonight the steaks were really good for the price. They are currently running a 19.99 special on, I believe, 5 different steaks. I had the crawfish bread, center filet, loaded macaroni, smothered green beans, and red beans and rice with brownie a la mode for dessert.

Everything was good with the exception of the smothered green beans but they weren't horrible. The steak was a tad over done but nothing to complain about. All around not bad and under $100 for 3 people.

The restaurant was extremely cold and that would be my only complaint.

The filet was a very pleasant surprise for me.

No. It has fallen off. If you read my post, I like Copelands but they never seem to be consistent.

they have real good steaks

I've only ordered from the steak menu one time, but that was enough. There was just something off about their steaks.

Again, this was one time AND it was when they just started offering a dedicated steak menu. Maybe they got it down and improved it.

ETA:I'm suprised by the steak recommendations. Maybe they did improve the technique they were using.

I went there a few days ago and ordered the Catfish Acadiana and it was acceptable. The service, however, was terrible. And that can sometimes be a deal breaker.

A damn fine appetizer.

I always thought Copeland's was pretty good (not great). I wish the one in Birmingham was still open, because compared to the other cajun places here, it was the truth.
