I love Community Coffee compared to nationally available crap like Maxwell House and Folgers. There really is no comparison. However, if we couldn't find Community Coffee here in Athens GA (which we can), we'd likely buy some locally ground stuff (which is expensive) to get a comparable flavor.
And no, I am not paying $12/lb for Starbucks coffee.

I have always had Community in my house and always will. I guess I am a homer in that respect, but I do think it is better.

There is a lot to be said for fresh local coffee.

Of course local home ground brands can compete and in many cases taste better than an industrial, assembly line coffee but CC is the best everyday, affordable coffee imo.
I grew up drinking Seaport but changed to CC in highschool and never looked back.
I have an automatic order shipped to my house every month.

Community Coffee...Kleinpeter Milk...Cracker Barrel convenience stores...just because it is local does not make it better. Venture out and you may be surprised.

It's a good relatively inexpensive local product. Community Dark Roast is generally my go to coffee at home.
That being said, I don't get the La. folks who move to say Colorado and feel like they need to get Community shipped to them.
It ain't that good or special.

I have a client who's father lives in BR and she is in North Carolina. She has her father ship her Community. She has never stepped foot in LA

Before Starbucks took over the world if you traveled around the country the coffee was complete and utter shite where you could see the bottom of the cup. While in Louisiana people were ahead of the game by drinking CC which is a much stronger coffee than what you would find at the time. Now the rest of the country has caught up with a love of dark coffee and CC isnt as special as it once was since you have a ton of strong coffee brands to choose from.

Just this week I had some houseguests from Minnesota stay over at my house as they were passing through on a road trip. I made some Community Coffee yesterday morning ( as I do every morning) for myself, and made extra for them. They each commented to my wife over and over again about how good the coffee was, how rich the flavor was, etc. and they had no idea what brand it was. I had already left the house before they woke up yesterday morning, and my wife is not a coffee drinker so she had no clue. They called me before they left town to find out what brand of coffee that was so they could buy some before they left town.

Call me a homerall you want..
But its Community Dark Roast for me.
I used to work at a place that would made folgers and all that other crap.. nothing came close to the rich taste.
I will say River Road makes a pretty good coffee though.

There is better coffee, but CC is quite good. I buy it because it is local.

I always buy CC because I like to support local. Also, having done extensive IH work in their Port(er) Allen roasting facility, I can say they are a very clean and top notch operation.
Now that I have bought a Keurig (best invention ever > printing press) I wish they would make CC k-cups.
Also, when I was working in a plant doing IH work for them, they had river roads coffee. That stuff was awesome as well.

Other companies can boast Eurotrash flavors and sport clever cartoon pictures of peasant field workers picking beans.. I get the Community Coffee dark roast whole bean and grind em myself.. Nothing compares.

Question:
I was inspired by a recent, similar thread to step up my coffee game from just groggily dumping a wad of CC Medium Blend into whatever coffee maker was in front of me.
Tried different things: a few different brands, using a French press or an AeroPress, even varying water types and temps (it's the engineer in me). I found the maximum db gain by simply grinding my own beans (currently CC Breakfast Blend with a cheapo grinder) and using the old-reliable Mr. Coffee. Huge difference in taste, drinkability and consistency.
There is a question in here: if only to support the local team, is there a specific CC Coffee House where the guys behind the counter really know their coffee? I've tried several locations and just didn't get the feeling I would get beyond "Our special today is..." if I started asking questions such as what is really in Breakfast Blend.
