Went to Costco here in Lafayette last week and was angry to see Community now is selling 40oz bags instead of 46oz that they have been selling for the past 7 or so years I've been shopping there.

Paid $17.99 for 40oz, or $0.44/oz. Paid $14.99 for 46 oz, or $0.32/oz in 2021. Am I irrationally angry about this? My wife and I go through 46oz roughly every 3 weeks.
still 10,000% cheaper than getting a $7 coffee at starbucks and taste way better so i think you protest-eth too much.

the near-futures coffee prices (green, unroasted beans) on the ICE exchange (a.k.a. the “C price”) was sitting at an all-time high of around US $4.03 per pound. (date of chart 2/7/25)

back in 2021 (covid) I dabbled in home roasting and was paying $1.05 per pound for green beans. Current prices range from $7.50 to $9.50 per pound before shipping. 10 lbs. of green beans shipped is right at $100

Cafe Special and breakfast blend are two of their better brews in my opinion.

Retailers wanting lower prices on the shelves is correct. Shrinkflation works really well on the less intelligent. If you keep the price the same and lower the amount, they are much less likely to notice than if you keep the amount the same and raise the price. Producers can retailers can play around with the numbers and actually increase their profit margins in the process.
