Any reports on how they are doing? I was concerned as it seems that business was slow last year due to the economy and such and that area of Florida taking a hit. I know that the overhead has to be pretty high in a location such as that.

The place strikes me as a completely odd business decision.

Who wants to eat Commanders Palace at the beach?

Well Pat O's had closed over there. So the New Orleans land near the bridge is dying.

It is more casual and not as gourmet as the N.O. location and they have a sweet bar looking out over the water.

I guess they were going for the folks that live there most of the year, but I do know of people that love to eat at nice restaurants while in Destin. I know a large family that spends 5 nights every year down there for the 4th and they eat out at the best restaurants 4 of the nights.

I think they're moving the location. I went about three weeks ago, that hotel that houses it looks like something out of Vegas. I was also struck by how developed the entire area is (haven't been in probably 5 years), and aside from some for sale signs, you wouldn't think there was any recession or anything going on at all. Every place we went was packed. I know that doesn't answer your question, I'm just musing since I was in the area not that long ago.

Most of the places are more resort casual type "nice", though.

Just think it's odd trying to pull that off, and still naming the place "Commanders Palace."

I have no idea man, maybe it was a bad fit? Was it in the same building as the Commanders? That rent has to be the highest in the city based on the location and the building. Maybe they had bad managers? I honestly have no idea.

Another thing, that place is an architectural abomination. It's horrid.

Pat O's cant pay 45,000 a month, but some mexican restaurant that replaced it can??

i somehow doubt it was that much

business was bad from what i hear, obviously. they didnt get the older crowd they expected and came to the conclusion it was more family oriented area
