I moved before they opened and this is the first time I have been back to Lafayette since. I have been twice this week and I really like it. I like the short menu, the wine list is well edited and reasonably priced, and I thought the food was also relatively inexpensive for the quality. The only thing that surprised me was that the place wasn't packed either time I went, in fact it was half full last night. I realize it's a big place, but I would have thought the week before Christmas the place would be mobbed. The overhead there has to be huge, their prices are low, so I'm wondering if they are pulling the volume they need. Is my experience just an anomaly, what have others experienced, crowd wise?

Haven't been to the Laf location, but I didn't understand why he expanded to Laf before BR. Laf has plenty of places that serve "similar" food. BR doesn't. I think it would've killed in BR in a good location.

wanted to go for lunch last time I was in Laffy, looked at the menu on-line and yes short menu, seemed expensive to me for what they were offering

BR is in the works ... it is doing fine and if for some strange reason it doesn't, then he can take a hit. Even a big one.

I want a Cochon Butcher in BR, not the nice restaurant. I think Butcher would crush it here.

They have breakfast? I've only been to Butcher in nola for lunch. Well, like I said, I would prefer a Butcher here in BR. If in the works, I wonder where they're looking to locate.

Mean while, the Bonefish Grill and Outback nearby have lines out the door.

Right, that is very discouraging.

I think Cochon will do just fine. I've been twice and the food is executed well and the prices IMO are very reasonable for what you are getting. I think there is a perception in Laffy that they are overpriced, so it might take some time to overcome that, but overall I think Cochon is good for Lafayette.
