If you’ve ever used them, how did you clean them? Thorough scrubbing with an SOS pad or do you just lightly clean them so they are “seasoned”?

cast iron grates?
if so you need to season them

when they get funky you can put them thru an oven cleaning cycle and re season as needed

I'll usually just heat the grill until the crud burns off the grates and use a wire grill brush to clean off the debris.

When I do a thorough cleaning on the entire grill, I just use my pressure washer on mine after getting as much of the loose crap out of it and disassembling the burners to clean them by hand.

Heat the grill up and let it cook off.

FYI you're talking about the aftermarket GrillGrates, right?

People aren't understanding what those are.

My bad, I thought he meant regular grates.

All this cleaning the grill grates talk got me off my butt and headed outside to clean my grill.

Took it apart and filled the sink with hot water and TSP to let the removable metal parts soak to loosen the grease and crud. In the meantime I broke out the pressure washer after scraping most of the crud off the inside of the grill body and blasted off the rest.

Back upstairs into the kitchen to thoroughly clean the parts in the sink and then reassemble the grill. Lit the burners to burn off any residual moisture and it's all good to go.

Call me crazy, but I just run them through a cycle in my dish washer.

I like some grease on my grills. Gives them some extra flavor.

Get a Grillbot. Duh. It's like a Roomba for your grill. :)

We'll buy anything

Properly oil them before and between used and you don’t really have to worry about it. Just buy a new grill and do it right from the get go.

Otherwise then maybe try Over cleaner + pressure washer
