Airport Grocery south of town is a neat joint. Good tamales.
Abe’s BBQ is an institution.

Airport is in Cleveland, not Clarksdale. If I’m going that far south of there I’d seriously consider Bellazar’s. It’s a really solid steakhouse.

Yep. But it’s on the north side of Cleveland!

Rest Haven. Kathryn's on moon lake if you don't mind the drive.

Might be an institution, but it is quite possibly the worst BBQ I've ever had. No hyperbole. Stopped there on a drive back to BR from Memphis, had time to kill so I took the scenic route.
ETA: the slaw was different in a good way, I do remember that being the bright spot of the meal. I ordered the ribs.

depending on your route you could get tamales at the whitefront in rosedale.

F&D Board saves the day again. Avoiding Memphis on the way back to Bham and detoured south of there. Came on Clarksdale around lunch and stopped at Abe’s. Everywhere else is closed on Sundays and we just made it here before they closed. Wife had the burger and I had the ribs. Burger was straight forward and the ribs were good. Pecan pie was legit and the sweet tea was on point. Baked beans and potato salad were average.

Neat old joint. A standard.

Is the pork there sliced or pulled? Not really a tamale fan or I would have gotten those.
