To me, if you're not in Orleans Parish, you're not in New Orleans (and if you are in Orleans Parish -- regardless of where in OP -- you are in New Orleans).
I don't care what the post office says, if it's in JP, it's in the burbs and not in New Orleans.
Having said all that, I have no problem with sombody saying "Chipotle Coming to Nola." If something's in the burbs of a metro, to me it's basically in the city. For example, I have no problems with the Zephyrs claiming New Orleans although they play in Metairie.

This post is one giant contradiction.

Harahan is a municipality

To clarify:
If you are from the outside, everything from the metro area is part of that city.
If you're from the city, not so much.
So if you are from New Orleans, somebody saying something in Elmwood is in "Nola" will make you say "Say what?"
But if you are from Monroe, Lafayette, Anchorage or whereever else then Elmwood, Metairie, Chalmette...all of it is New Orleans.
And though I'm in New Orleans fairly often, I'm basically an outsider, so I'm OK with calling everything in Metro "New Orleans."
Make sense?
I know as somebody in BR, I recently was asked about the outlet malls in Baton Rouge by somebody from the northeast (she was telling me she went to them while she was down here). I said "Those are in Gonzales." She said "Same thing, right?"
Not if you're from BR.

The Kennerbrah international airport just sounds stupid too.

But Elmwood's not in Harahan, right? It's in Jefferson, which is unincorporated.
I don't understand why all of it isn't just Metairie. Don't know enough about the backstory of JP. I know I was told that it wasn't very long ago (maybe 40 years or so) that Kenner didn't just bump up into Metairie. Now it's all one big burb, all running together.

Elmwood is unincorporated Harahan, I believe.
Everything east of Clearview to the beginning of Claiborne and everything south of Airline Hwy to the river is Old Jefferon.
I think

When the U.S. Postal Service created ZIP codes in 1963, its intention was to simplify mail delivery. In the case of ZIP code 70123 it caused confusion.
In 1943, the postal service implemented an early form of postal code: a two-digit number to represent a particular zone in a city. Twenty years later, the ZIP code was born. In this system, the first three digits represent the central mail-processing facility, and the last two digits correspond to the original zone given to the city in the early '40s.
ZIP codes were never meant to conform to any geographic or municipality boundaries. At the time they were assigned here, it was decided efficiency could best be achieved by grouping the Jefferson Parish communities of Harahan, Elmwood and River Ridge, giving them a New Orleans prefix of 701, while most Jefferson Parish ZIP codes begin with 700. In addition, Old Jefferson was given the 70121 ZIP code.
So if your business is in the 70123 ZIP code, you can say you're a New Orleans company and the mail will get through, even if your location is in Elmwood, Harahan or River Ridge.

My sister used to live in Mark Twain II on Jefferson Hwy. in River Ridge back in the mid-90s.
I'd ask her "Where does Metairie end and River Ridge Ridger begin?"
"I don't know."
"Why is there a River Ridge? We isn't it just part of Metaire?"
"Don't know. Doesn't make much sense, does it?"
I never understood why all of that area in East Jefferson is Metairie, except right by the river.
I'm sure there's some long backstory about how there used to be swamp between Harahan and Metairie, or whatever. It's all just confusing now.

Izzos >>>>>>>>>>>>> Chipotle IMO
ETA: Even if it was better, I doubt I'd ever eat there. I'm not driving all the way to Harahan for a burrito. I wish someone would start buying up blocks on Claiborne and put in some quality strip malls.

I let them know, but they made a bad mistake in paragraph 3, calling Chipotle McDonald's-owned. McDonald's sold its share six years ago.
I'm guessing they went into the whole thing making assumptions based off it being a "McDonald's-owned chain" vs. a "Better local place."
I tried Izzo's again the other day. Had a bland burrito with tasteless pork and sat-out-all-day veggies at the Bluebonnet (the stand-alone, not the mall) location. An Izzo's fan told me I should have gone to the Coprorate location, that that was the "good" location. Maybe next time.
I've posted on here that I've been a bit disappointed in the BR Chipotle, especially on the issue of portion. The reviewers might be right in that the assembly line workers may be struggling with exactly how much of each ingredient to put on the burrito.
Given that, I still like Chipotle more than Izzo's. I put Izzo's at a distant No. 3 behind Chipotle and Qdoba. But hey, it still beats Zippy's, which to me is just pretty bad.
I find that locals are fiercely loyal to the local brand and have a hard time being dispassionate. I read some of the praise for it and when I go, I really want it to be true, but it's not.
Kind of like a Johnny's Pizza thing, except I do kind of like Johnny's when I'm in Monroe (not so much when I'm on Highland Road).

Not to be a dick, but you could put any city as long as the zip is correct.
I do find that some people get way to worked up about where cities begin/end.
