The best recipe?? I've got some round steaks that thawed when the power went...

Tenderize them then put them in a egg and milk batter then put in flour. Season the flour to how you like it,then put them in a skillet with cooking oil.

I combine a LA and Yankee favorite. I mix equal parts Old Bay and Slap Your Momma seasonings plus some extra cracked black pepper.

Asking what best seasoning to put in with the flour
2 tsp salt
1 tsp paprika
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp blk pepper
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp cayenne
1 cup flour
Combine and shake your steaks in there one at a time. Press it in the meat well with your hands. Lay them on a cookie sheet or platter and put them in the fridge for at least a half hour.
Make an egg wash and a second batch of seasoned flour. Dip the steaks quickly in the egg wash, move to the flour then fry in a heavy skillet one or two at a time over med-high heat. Drain on a wire rack. Move to the oven to keep warm.
In the remaining oil add enough of the remaining seasoned flour to make a blonde roux. Slowly add evaporated milk, salt, pepper to taste.
Serve white gravy over steaks.

My Mom's chicken fried steak
Some tenderized beef cube steak
Flour
Milk
Tony's and some black pepper
Oil for frying
This is another favorite of my mom's. Get some beef cube steak, take it out of the package. Lay it on a cutting board and cover it with Saran Wrap. Using a mallet or something heavy, pound it until it can be torn into little strips.
Drop those strips into a bowl of milk.
In a separate bowl, put enough flour to cover the meat. Season the flour with Tony's and black pepper and toss it with a fork so it's evenly spread throughout.
Heat up the oil. When it's hot enough to fry, around 350°, add some strips to the flour and coat them generously with the flour.
I like to set them aside until I have several to fry at one time. Then add them to the oil/fryer. It won't take long. About 3-4 minutes, take them out and let them drain on paper towels and season with a little more Tony's.
Make some fries or tator tots and make some country gravy and you're good to go!

I re-read the OP like 45 times and I can't find where you asked for the best seasoning to put in flour. I think the 1st response was sufficient.

That's because I didn't ask the OP anything.

I've never understood the appeal of chicken fried steak. I've never had one and thought that it was better than if I'd just had a good, regular steak.

Really?
Man, they are awesome! As long as they're not fried too long (which dries out the meat and makes it way tough to cut through), they are killer good. It doesn't take long to fry it up, maybe 3 or 4 minutes. The white gravy is a must!
Yes, it's beef, like a regular steak but it's more of a tenderloin, not a thick cut like a big ribeye or a porterhouse.
You should really try one. If you like fried food and if you like steak, you won't be disappointed. Just ask whoever is cooking it to not overcook it.

You didn't grasp what he was saying. He said he hasn't had one that was better than regular steak.
But I'll agree with you, I love chicken fried steak with certain cuts of meat. It's a good home style cooked meal.

That is because I was not talking to you. The OP was very generic, then he jumped the next guy for providing the wrong info. That is why I said that.

Do you often cook cube steak like a regular steak?
