The Standard in Wicker Park
Posted on 8/28/20 at 5:29 pm to rowbear1922
Yes the official LSU alumni association hosts games at DS Tequila. However, the Standard in Wicker Park is a big LSU bar as well. The alumni association used to have the games there. Not sure what happened. But the manager of the Standard is a huge fan. We watched every game there from November through the championship. Good times.
There actually is a Saints bar/restaurant called Frontier. It's in West Town on Division. The head chef/owner is from New Orleans and he also runs Ina Mae Tavern nearby. Frontier is a massive place but it gets absolutely packed on game days. We usually had to get there no later than 11 AM to make sure we got a seat. Given the circumstances, not sure how that will work this year. But luckily for them, they have a covered outdoor beer garden that's pretty massive. It's a neat space to watch a game. Honestly, I had no idea that there were as many NOLA and Louisiana expats in Chicago until we started watching the games there and saw the amount of Saints fans that show up on the regular.

So I see the LSU alumni association does watch parties (when we aren’t in a pandemic) at DS Distillery, are there any other LSU/Saints bars?
DS is in boys town. Nothing wrong with that of course. Standard is awesome for LSU games. Place was jammed for the game watch i went for and the owner had a full brass band playing during the game and commercials.

Scene downstairs, some solid talent at the table where we met some fans.

Bangers & Lace just down the street has some good bar food and a great beer menu.
Coincidentally, I live “above” Bangers. Technically, in the building above the small format Target.
Was a little unsettling during the looting in June. Looters broke into Target and the back of the store goes into our building.
Anyway, I love Bangers. Their tap list has been garbage since opening back up, but they’re good people, so I try getting down there when I can.

But I'm planning to take a week off in early October and the wife and I will have a staycation where we plan to do a different neighborhood each day and eat our way through the city as much as we possibly can.
This is a great idea. My fiancé and I go to a different neighborhood every Sunday for lunch or dinner.

It's great... we have been a few times! The missus is friends with one of the co-owners (OOH alum)

I have a good friend that lives in that building. He has a really nice view of the city from his balcony.
