Easily one of the top in Lafayette. They really know how to run a place.

Another vote for Charlie G's here. Never had anything other than a stellar meal there. Aside from the great entrees mentioned, the Sea Bass is very good there, if still on the menu.
Regarding Cafe Vermilionville, I hear they have a new chef and new management. But it has been about 8-10 yrs since we have been, so I can't speak to the current state of things there.

Then you are good. The place does smell fantastic. I've been 3 times and have gotten the filet every time.

See, I wouldn't drive across BR for ruffino's but I'll drive to Laffy occasionally for Charlie G's. I have no experience w/ Laffy ruffino's so cant comment on that location.

Phares is now terrible. They got the guy from Café V when that situation changed I understand, must have new owners and absolutely everything is different and NOT for the better.

None better. Take your time and enjoy it.

I have always been underwhelmed by everything I have gotten at Phares with the exception of the cheesecake.

New Phares, has new concept, sucks
Posted on 12/19/14 at 5:00 pm to tiger perry
Is the cheesecake the same?

Duck and Andouile Gumbo is the real deal. One of Lafayette's best. Had dinner there last night.

I went to Ruffino's recently and the food was ok, but I was definitely wishing I had gone to Charlie G's midway through my entrée.

If you can stand the test of time in Lafayette restaurant circles, then you've done something right.

Wonderful restaurant and Charlie Goodson is a great human being.
