The boudin was frozen to cook at home, no fresh boudin there because of "Covid concerns" (?).

The boudin had a higher than usual liver content, which is ok by me. Not as high a liver content as Billy T's in Scott or Benoit's in Addis. The insides were a little mushy; I like a better rice definition. The meat to rice ratio was good, and it was well seasoned without being too hot or spicy. Grade: B. I don't see how folks would say it is the best around. Maybe the freshly made and sold in store boudin is better.

The muffaletta, however, was killer, especially the bread, which was toasty, a bit crumbly, and really tasty all at the same time. The meats and olive mix were both tasty, and the muff was not the slightest bit greasy. I will definitely go back for more muffalettas. Grade: A+

I bought a premade meatloaf and a lasagna from there the other day. Both were very good.

Other than Jerry Lee's you are correct. Its the best that Baton Rouge has to offer. If you don't like their boudin that's a personal issue.

Their boudin is good. Their andouille is the best sausage I've ever eaten. I will happily drive to Central to buy their andouille for crawfish boils and gumbos.

Back to Cannatella's - I had their muff a few weeks ago and it is legit. Their Porchetta Pete sandwich is great also.

The fact that this place originated in Melville blows my mind

Not a huge fan of their boudin. Their crackling is good though.

Tony's Seafood has good in-house boudin - regular, crawfish, and seafood (baby shrimp and crab meat). Plus, their boudin balls (nuggets really) made from all three are excellent.

I love Tony's boudin balls, but they don't really taste like boudin from a traditional boudin shop to me. They are more like the boudin balls you get when you order it as an appetizer in a restaurant (Chimes, Dempseys, etc.). Still delicious, just much different to me.

I believe Grant is the 4th generation Cannatella. The Melville store started in the 1920's and was a general merchandise store (lumber, tools, hardware, and food).

If you have not tried it, get the Mr. Grant's seasoning - stuff is legit. I used to pull off in Krotz Springs when I was going down 190 and head over to the store to pick some up.
