Restaurants in BR? I know we’ve got several spots that are either Greek or Lebanese. Buts what’s the main difference to a pedestrian palate like mine? I’ve eaten at the places this board recommended and wasn’t disappointed, but is all Mediterranean alike or is there a huge difference in regions?

For my taste, Albasha is the best. Juicier gyros and dolmades, hummus is better, and their moussaka leaves Serop's crying in the dust. It's more expensive but worth it.

Zorbas in BR, followed by Albasha which as stated above has the very best meat mousaka
If ever in Gonzales try Kamal’s out, his food is top notch, a lot more flavor in the chicken, but he himself can be annoying

Zorba's is the best, it's more traditional Greek instead of Mediterranean but damn it's good.

It’s all pretty much the same. The Baton Rouge Lebanese community is unique to the city which is why it stands out.

Mediterranean is a very broad food style/group. You have Southern France, Italy, Greece, Middle Eastern, North African, etc.. There are differences, but maybe not enough restaurants in BR to taste them. Zorba's has different dishes than Albasha or Serop's, but they also have overlap.

Especially if you've ever played soccer against Kamal But his food is good.

Zorba's is unique in that they are more true Greek cuisine.
Albasha, Serop's, Roman's, Arzi's etc. all have very similar menus and flavor profiles.
Outside of that you have your national/regional chains like Zoe's.

Zorba's does pastitsio. You have to be Greeker than Greek to pull that one off.

My mom is Greek and we grew up on this dish and many more. I also cook these dishes.
