Yep. It's not very far from LA. I would think that it would be sold all over the country, but I'm not positive...

You can buy oil and flour.

Are there not roux mixes that are made commercially that are sold everywhere? I know that is not what you want in a roux, but he asked if you could "buy" one...

oil & flour
BUT
I do like Tony's instant roux. Work fine when I need to make a roux. Quick and easy. Say what you want but if you cook the rest of the dinner right, no one will know. Roux is just flour and oil so I do not care what the die hards say about that you have to cook a roux from scratch. Tony's has worked for me many of times.
When I have time I make a roux. Otherwise Tony's

Dude. Two parts flour to one part oil. Stir till dark on medium heat. Not that hard.

Dude. I just want to buy a jar of the stuff and was wondering if I could do so where I'm at.
If I can't buy it here then yeah I'll make it. It would just be more convenient for me to purchase in a jar. Not that hard either

I feel confident in saying that Starkville grocery stores carry both flour and vegetable oil. I think you're ok.

I'm not in starkvegas but they definitely sell it in flowood ms. Go to walmart and find the louisiana foods section, or kroger in the section with the different tastes of the world or whatever. I usually get a jar of savoies. And I don't really care about making my own roux, even though I know it wouldn't be hard.

Well dude, none of us know shite about Starkvegas. BTW, you can make a dark roux from scratch in 5 minutes.

I just saw an advertisement for this site. Get your cajun fix anywhere in the nation.
Cajun Grocer.com
I recommend the Savoie's dark, but you also can't go wrong with the Richard's roux.

That's crazy, I live in Corpus Christi and found roux made in Broussard. Granted it was the only option, but it's surprising they wouldn't have it in Alabama.

I'm surprised that anybody even buys Roux and that it is for sale in any grocery store. I'm from Iowa, and I don't even think twice about making a quick Roux.

Can you cook? Oil, flour, pot.

I make my own roux everytime
