No kidding.

CIT, I guess I don't know anything about food. I don't like frozen green peas. I pick them out of foods and slide them over on the plate. I request that they be left out of fried rice.

I like pea soup, but I usually use the dried ones. Frozen might work, but I don't like them in rice or other dishes.

Funny you should mention this. I just saw this episode of Laura Calder's French Food at Home and she was cooking :

It took me forever to find this pic, but here is pea puree utilized with pork. Admittedly, the sear on the pork was lame, but I did nail a perfect 145 midrare.

Slice off a tender morsel of pig or grab a chunk of roasted veggie and dip that into what started as frozen peas. You'll change your mind in a hurry.

Made a hummus with the one time and it was really really good, never even crossed my mind to add some mint!

Going to have to do that again.

I never knew there were such thing as non-smushy (canned) peas, which is what mom always made, until a few years ago when I found them in the frozen section. I love them bc they are crunchy! I fix them with butter and salt.

How in Gods name has it taken two pages worth of receipes to get to a Pea Salad???

blanch the peas, drain and put into bowl.
boil 3-4 eggs, peel, dice, and add to the peas.
dice half of a purple onion
shred a handful romaine lettuce
salt, pepper, and a pinch of cayenne
add a large spoon of mayo.
mix well and refigerate. Enjoy

It is a great summer salad

I've had green pea and cheddar salad... wasn't too bad, but only because the cheddar taste compensated for the peas.

At any rate... I'm going to try the green pea and mint idea. Sounds somewhat Indian.

add peas, cook on low/med for 20-30 min

Make carbonara. Throw peas in at the end.

Delicious. Adds a little health to the bowl of cheese, bacon, and egg.
