If anyone gets over there this week and sees King Cakes, please let us know. I want to get one but don’t want to waste another trip. Also curious what their selection will be.

Do any fans of Perkins/Seigen Calandros/Oak Point know who owns that shopping center? The official name seems to be Town & Country. The listed agent for the LLC is Kyle Talbot.

Thanks. I think I will stop by on my way home then. I’ll report back.

King Cakes are in stock. Did see the St. Bruno display up, but it was empty. I'm assuming they are awaiting delivery.

Someone told me a few weeks ago that the burger served by the deli when the store was owned by Calandros was one of the best in the city. Does anyone know if Oak Point continue to serve it?

Wonder where it ranks next to the Whole Foods burger?

Dr Hill is the guy that owns that shopping Center IIRC. He was the founder of Hill Medical on Mcgehee drive in BR

Stopped in today on the way home after lunch. Disappointing. They were unloading boxes of king cakes, all one size $20+ dollars and maybe six types, the majority were plain traditional, then overloaded cream cheese, Oreo, pecan praline, a raspberry (CC?) and one or two others. Far cry from the twenty to thirty Calandros used to stock, and multiple sizes.

You got to drive to the Central location to get freshly made king cakes because they make them next door and roll them on a cart into the store.

The king cakes are already switched over. Got one last week and it’s oak points recipe.

For oakpoint I would go with plain.. Just had their strawberry cream cheese and it was too much. $16 for large cake not bad though

So, it's been a month since Oak Point has bought Calandro's. Is this the final product of what we are going to get? I assumed they would have redecorated a little bit, carried some different items, etc... The only visual difference is they removed some displays in the aisles, and they appear to have gutted their liquor stock, unless they are keeping it all in the back.
I've also noticed their beer department has not put out any new beer since the buyout. The latest local drop has been Gnarly Barley's Double Jucifer and they don't have it, and the shelves are starting to look sad. I don't know if the plan is to sell out of what they have then reorganize or what.
They also, have not changed the signs. The only way you know it's oak point is the grocery bags, and the mural at the entrance way that says oak point.
I'm not sure what the strategy was, of buying Calandro's, but with new ownership, i would have expected some sort of revitalization of the store.

All of the printed price labels from meats to vegetables, nuts, and breads are still marked "Calandro's". The sign over the building as well.
The receipt said Oak Point. I did see plenty of St. Bruno bread in there on Saturday
