Is that a block of Velveta cheese I see in the upper right of the pic? If so, then props to you. I'm starting a Southbeach diet tomorrow, so not hate here.

Oh, and that Diet DP is going to rot your teeth out! I certainly hope you and the wifey don't plan on sippin' on that to satisfy the sugar cravings. Of all diet drinks, this one is by far the worst at causing tooth decay.

Am I missing something? Hot Dogs and Hormel Chili on a diet?

2 dogs and mustard slaw with some chili probably was only about 450 calories.

Actually, what you see are Canasta Cards in a yellow box on a stool in the corner.

Velveeta is a rarely enjoyed treat. None in the house at the moment. We do have cheddar, Monterey Jack, Cream Cheese, Mozzarella, Parmesan. I did pick up a can of canned cheese a week or two back at the market, but I put it back.

I have enjoyed Diet Dr Pepper for 20 years. My teeth are all mine and in great shape, or they were when I had them cleaned a couple of months back. If needed to address the concerns of the board, I'll post their condition mid summer when my next cleaning is scheduled.

I hardly ever get sweet cravings.

My cardiologist and over half of his staff went on Adkins a few years ago after my first time on it. At that time, I lost 60 pounds. At that time he said the journals said that the diet was not bad for you.

Sometimes I get a spooky feeling on ketosis, but the feelings pass about as quickly as they come.

Had a Mitral valve replacement and after that a Pace Maker (syncope ater open heart surgery), so spooky feelings catch my attention.

Tell me more. Why is this so? I gave up diet drinks for 2 years but have (unfortunately) started drinking the newer diet DP. Bold. For Men (stupid ad campaign).

Bravo!

I assume you vote also?

The wife (MHNBPF) does, every election and sometimes she allows me to vote unassisted!

This is probably weird, but I really enjoyed reading a post about Oscar Meyer hot dogs, Kraft yellow mustard, and shredded cabbage. Thanks for the anecdotes, MeridianDog, you make something really simple personal and interesting

I vote, I drive, I wear pants.

I didn't even know the new Diet DP was advertised as being for men until a couple of men (at different times) made a joke when they saw me drinking some. As if!

BTW, I eat hot dogs on Atkins, too, but I microwave them because I prefer them extra done. And then I put them in a low carb wrap, mustard, lettuce or arugula (but cabbage sounds good), no chili.

For all the naysayers ... I don't care. I eat plenty of unprocessed healthy foods, too.

Oh Miz Darla!

I'm blushing now!

Regarding the post. Yes, I eat almost anything and everything - In moderation - and considering I come from commoners there is no reason I can see to put myself out here as otherwise.

Lincoln said the Lord must like commoners because He made so many of us.

So I assume a Hot Dog stew would be a poor choice for a post. We went to a food show in Dallas once and they had a local celebrity who did an excellent sausage stew.

Sorry to upset folks.

Diet DP chelates the most minerals from teeth of all popular soft drinks. Even more so than their regular counterparts.

Some of the worst cases I see are people that sip on diet soft drinks. Since they have no caloric value, people think they can sip on them all day long. This bathes the teeth in acids and causes tooth decay.

It's not the total dose of acid that causes the decay, it's the frequency that causes it. Acid, not necessarily sugar, is the problem.

I hadn't had Hormel chili in years, last week I saw a pack of Hebrew Nat'l hot dogs in the fridge and went looking in the pantry for some salsa and I saw the can of Hormel's, oh good, hot dogs and chili.

Heated it all up, sprinkled some cheddar and put on a bun. I just didn't remember canned chili tasted that bad. I knew there was a reason I stopped buying it years ago, and I don't know where that can came from, maybe my son bought it on his last visit.

You have matured as a foodie when you can't bear the taste of things like Cool Whip, Kraft M&C and most over processed food.

I'd be willing to bet you don't sip on diet drinks all day long.

I posted on a board for a while that used (*) "Sarcastrics" (*) which indicated the use of sarcasm.

They were helpful as they left no doubt.
